Looking to fly some friends somewhere for a sunset flight, dinner and return. Will be originating in Tampa. Any suggestions on places to go? Ideally would like to fly somewhere with on airport or right by the airport dining....

OK, hands down the best place is Chalet Susan, not too far from Sun N Fun. Check to see if it is still there and the sod runway is suitable for your MU-2, but it is a special place.
The mercury astronauts liked it enough to take some of their canned soup to the moon. Wonderful food and unique cabins if you want to spend the night.

Cedar Key used to have a great restaurant. Runway is only 2355' however. Flying your long body by the SFAR profile won't get you in there.

Dave-
I lived over in Tampa a hundred years ago, and I think there used to be a
nice place on the St. Pete airport, or within walking distance. Never flew
into there, but I hear it's a pretty place to fly into.
Is that vague enough for you?
Bill

Dave: I'm a Tampa native and have been doing the $$$$ burger for over 30 yrs. Out of Tampa in an MU-2, I'd recommend afternoon and evening in Key West. Arrive in time to catch "local color" at Mallory Square for sunset, then walk to dinner at any number of very good restaurants: all within ten minute cab ride of airport. Brett

Venice airport has a restaurant just off the field. It is called Sharky's on the pier and I believe there is a free shuttle. Might call them to confirm 941-488-1456. Venice id is KVNC, just south of Sarasota.
Hope this helps.

One FBO at Marathon is jet the other is avgas is the best way to describe them ,they don't like for you to mix the two. If you can get a car Frank's grill on the upper end of Marathon has killer Italian food .
The last time I went to Key West they were fee happy for all the longer I was there . I took my Aerostar in there for about 1/2 of what they charged me in the MU-2.
Side note try not to let them move your plane at Marathon they curled up both outside lower sides of my front nose gear door.
