I need to be in Houston this Wednesday and will fly in in 228WP. Assuming its done with phase check in Tulsa.

What are the issues with Hobby. Jet A prices at Wilson are quite good. How hard is it to get in and out of Hobby. Any better suggestions? Thank you.

I use Sugarland. A little bit more of a drive but easy in and out with good fuel prices. Awesome terminal and very friendly staff.

I flew into Hobby recently and had no issues, the fbo took CAA which I'm a member which saves a ton on fuel and ramp fees.

I am always challenged when someone wants a short answer.

I think for an airport with substantial commercial air service, Hobby is very reasonable to get in and out of. I am long based there. Most of the really heavy commercial traffic is at IAH. If your business is in or close to downtown Houston, Hobby offers the shortest drive.

I personally am biased toward wanting to minimize aircraft flying time, even at the expense of longer drive time. Sounds like you will be coming from the north (FTW, TUL?) Since Hobby is on the south side of downtown you will be coming across some busy airspace. If they are landing to the southeast (their preference) it is not too bad; if to the northeast, fair; if landing to the southwest or northwest there is more flying around to get in sequence. Departing Hobby to the north is a straight and easy shot.

If your business is on the north side of greater Houston there is Hooks. West is West Houston, southwest is Sugar Land. Landing at those airports would save you some flying time. West Houston or Sugar Land is not a bad freeway drive to and from even downtown Houston unless it is rush hour traffic.
