Anyone used PHX as a fuel stop? [message #12246] Fri, 31 October 2014 16:12 Go to next message

I’m considering PHX as a fuel stop candidate. Fuel (using Colt) is cheap. Cutter waives ramp fee with a fuel purchase, and no landing fee for part 91 apparently.

My biggest concern is how quickly I could get in/out given all the airline traffic there. Wondering if anyone has done this and has experience with it.

Thanks!

I go in there often and usually get in and out pretty quick but I got stuck on the ground for 20mins or more once just depends on the airline arr/dep schedules. Deer Valley is close and is really quick in and out.

SDL is a good alternative. Both SDL and PHX are cheaper using CAA discount fuel and fee waivers.

I don’t have CAA because I don’t go to their limited airports very often. But Colt at DVT is only a little more than PHX, so maybe that’d be easier. SDL is at least $1/gal more.

Good restaurant on the field at DVT right by parking as well. They hosted the PROP convention this year.

PHX can be a long taxi depending on how they land you. Look at the Airport Diagram.

I was there last weekend at Cutter, easy in and out with good pricing with Colt. Make sure that you request the runway that is close to Cutter (7R, 25L I Think). I believe that it is easier to use PHX because all the other airports in the area are subject to the traffic at the main airport.
