The San Juan Islands in Puget Sound are among the best scenery you can find.  It's a summer destination only.  Remote, evergreen-covered rocks with occasional tourist towns.  There are whales, bald eagles, seaplanes, ferries, kayaks, sailboats and hikes.  Friday Harbor airport (FHR; 3,400 ft paved) is an excellent starting point.  I just flew into a private strip on Decatur Island -- 2,400 ft, grass -- after months of measuring/calibrating N50ET's field length requirements.  It rolled 1,400 ft on takeoff.  Wotta airplane.  But then it was designed for the Japanese Coast Guard to patrol outlying islands with primitive strips.
